Campaign Watch: Perspective, from Keri Tombazian
September 20, 2008 by Editor.
This is from Keri Tombazian’s Member to Member e-mail…
“A member has provided some perspective on the differences between the results of our Board election and the results of that postcard poll. Even I, who have been following all the numbers, had not wrapped my brain around the following:Alan Rosenberg gave a quote to the Associated Press on 9/18 that the post card push poll was a more valid reflection of the members’ sentiments than the recent Board election results. Really? Consider this:Fewer Hollywood members voted to reject the AMPTP’s last-best-and-final offer than voted for the lowest ranked of the 22 alternates on the Hollywood Board.About 1,600 more Hollywood members voted for Amy Brenneman than the total number that responded to the push poll, both pro and con.Part of our responsibility as members outside of the board room is to keep up on the issues – elect people who represent our best interest and once elected, to hold them accountable for their election promises. That said, while I am confident of our new UFS Board members commitment to righting this ship, they are still, nonetheless, working on a Board populated with MFs.The first National Board meeting is coming up in October. I will keep you abreast of the proceedings.”
