Just FYI - Vallywood
September 24, 2008 by Editor.
Regular readers know the respect we have for the Vallywood blog, and its author Steve Diamond, and many of you were surprised (as we were) when it suddenly disappeared. Steve let it be known that he was tied up with the new school year (he’s a professor at Santa Clara Law School, and was expecting a new child…so he’d shut down. He’s not posting again, but he’s at least put the site back on line. It’s a repository of some interesting documents as well as his commentary on SAG -still worth a visit.

Negotiations Watch: The Sith Lords on Product Placement
September 24, 2008 by Editor.
Andrew Salomon at BlogStage busts the MPAA and AMPTP on the contradiction between what they tell us about product placement at the bargaining table and what they’re telling the FCC.A quote: “Hollywood executives are telling government regulators that the rising tide of DVRs and video on demand “threaten the viability of traditional commercials,” as Variety’s William Triplette writes, so regulation could hurt them financially. But a source close to that other collection of suits, the Alliance for Motion Picture and Television Producers, told Back Stage last week that traditional ads weren’t going anywhere. Advertisers, the source said, “still believe in the power of the mass reach.”
