Negotiations Watch: But Not Ours
November 6, 2008 by WW.
In a bit of a surprise, with the economy looking worse by the minute, the IATSE and the AMPTP are going back to the table on Monday, trying to finish a new contract half a year before the old one expires. They tried once before , for three days back in April, more than a year before the expiration of the current deal - and we’re sure the IA wishes that had worked out. Here’s Variety’s story.

Why Didn’t We Think of This?
November 6, 2008 by Editor.
“…a photoshopped picture of an Atlanta storefront with a neon sign saying “Sagwatch.net” over the door.”
We took that quote from a posting somewhere in the chain of comments on a Membership First dominated BBs originally trying to link this blog to a SAG Atlanta leader.
Our original plan was to rent a billboard on Wilshire near 5757 bearing the SAGWatch logo and the words “We’re Watching.”
But this is a group that chose a $1.99 a month hosting service for a reason. Billboards are expensive. So maybe the neon signs are a good idea. We could sell them, like that wasteland/blog that inspired us to start this one sells t-shirts and other items. Anybody want a SAGWatch neon sign? You don’t have to have a storefront…
Or maybe a SAGWatch watch? That would be perfect to make sure you’re in the right time zone, even if some of our “leaders” are from somewhere entirely different.

No Negotiations Watch: We Were Waiting…
November 6, 2008 by Editor.
There wasn’t any definitive word on yesterday’s meeting between the SAG Negotiating Committee and federal mediator Juan Carlos Gonzales - we knew the session had taken place, but hadn’t heard anything about what happened. Now Variety’s out with a post that says the reason we didn’t hear much is that there wasn’t much to hear. The TV-Theatrical contract expired four months ago, and there have been no negotiations since mid-July. The appearance of the SAG-requested mediator hasn’t yet resulted in any change.
